To paraphrase an old riddle: when is a sewer pipe like a golf game? Answer: when you have a hole in one. That’s just the situation York Region engineers hoped to avoid when they planned a two-kilometre cured-in-place pipe relining job on an aging sewer line. The twist? Half of the project length crosses St. Andrew’s Valley Golf Club, an 18-hole course that straddles both Aurora and Newmarket. Capital staff eagerly awaiting the commencement of the Grouted in Place Panel Lining project, which is due to start in late September, 2008. The contract, which involves the relining of approximately 615m of 900mm x 1350mm and 1200mm x 1600mm brick, egg shaped sewer on Barton Street, is a pilot program, which we hope will lead to more projects in the City over next few years. The GRP panels are custom designed to fit, as close to, the original sewer profile. Whether, round, square, elliptical or egg shaped, Channeline will manufacture panels to fit.
